Blood Pressure
Blood Pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries as the heart pumps it around the body and is one of the principal vital signs.

Blood Pressure Part II
Pharmacists use a variety of medications to lower blood pressure in addition to ‘lifestyle factor modification’. Increased salt intake causes the kidneys to try to push more salt out of the body by releasing hormones that increase the blood pressure to try to get more blood through the kidneys.

Bowel Cancer Screening Test
Bowel cancer screening involves a test for bowel cancer in people who do not have any obvious symptoms of the disease.

A partnership to make things easier for you
Health screening for cholesterol and blood glucose is now available at our Hargreaves Street Health Hub.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
The program is part of the Victorian Government’s Community Prescribing Pilot launched in late October 2023. It enables greater access for women to gain support for UTIs where it’s difficult to get a general practitioner (GP) appointment.

Shingles Treatment

Psoriasis Treatment
The program is part of the Victorian Government’s Community Prescribing Pilot launched in late October 2023. It enables greater access to support for Psoriasis treatment where it is sometimes hard to get an appointment with a GP.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination
RSV is a virus that is a common cause of upper and lower respiratory tract infection. Repeated infections are common throughout life because natural infection does not confer long-lasting immunity.

Shingles vaccine
Herpes zoster, commonly known as shingles, is a reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in a person who has previously had varicella (chickenpox). Anyone who has had chickenpox can develop shingles because the virus remains in the nerve cells of the body after an attack of chickenpox.

Whooping Cough Vaccination
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a serious, contagious, respiratory infection caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis.

Meningococcal Vaccination
Meningococcal disease is any infection caused by meningococcal bacteria (Neisseria meningitidis). It is uncommon but very serious.

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Vaccination
Measles is a contagious viral illness that causes a skin rash and fever. Serious and sometimes fatal complications include pneumonia and encephalitis (brain inflammation). Measles is also known as rubeola, not to be confused with rubella (German measles).

Influenza vaccinations
Influenza, commonly known as the flu is caused by a highly contagious virus that is spread by contact with fluids from coughs and sneezes.

Unwanted Medicines
Your medicine cabinet can be a health hazard Most of the medicines in our medicine cabinet we need, but what about the yellow pills in a jar that’s lost its label, and the eye drops we have had for a long time.
