Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People (ATSI)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) peoples have higher rates of some vaccine-preventable diseases than non-Indigenous Australians.
For this reason, extra vaccines are available at no charge through the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
In addition to routine childhood vaccinations ATSI infants and children are entitled to the following immunisations free of charge:
All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who have missed a routine childhood vaccination can get it for free up until they turn 20 years old.
