What is Mpox (Monkey Pox)?

There is currently a global outbreak on the virus, with gay and bisexual men being those most likely to be affected.

Mpox illness is usually mild, with symptoms such as rash or lesions, rectal or urethra inflammation, however, should serious illness develop, hospitalisation may be necessary. The risk of serious disease if higher in children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune system.

Vaccination against mpox is available at Health@Hargreaves and is government funded for those at risk of infection, regardless of sexual orientation.
