Shingles Treatment

The Shingles Treatment Program is available at Bendigo UFS Pharmacies.

Bendigo UFS is an active participant in the Victorian Government’s Community Prescribing Pilot (click here for further information on the pilot).

To be eligible to receive treatment for shingles, you must:

  • Be aged 18 years or older.
  • Present with signs and symptoms indicative of herpes zoster (Shingles) including a rash characterised by pain and blistering which usually appears on one side of the face/body and does not cross the body’s midline.

An appointment will enable patients to gain access to treatment without needing to go to the general practitioner (GP) first.

What does this pilot program mean for me?

The program is part of the Victorian Government’s Community Prescribing Pilot launched in late October 2023. It enables access to support for Shingles treatment where it is sometimes hard to get an appointment with a GP.

Find out more about whether the Community Prescribing option is right for you here.

At your consultation, your Pharmacist will ask you some screening questions in a private consultation to ensure you receive the right treatment and care.

People with or without a Medicare card and international students will be eligible for a service under the pilot.
