HOWZAT! UFS pitches in to help stumped cricket club

The Marong Junior Cricket Club will have a bumper season thanks to the help of UFS Pharmacies and Maiden Gully IGA. The club's under-11 team had all of it's equipment damaged in the floods earlier this year which was not discovered until the start of the season. UFS was only too happy to help out, contributing to half of this new equipment.

UFS Pharmacies CEO Michael Fleming commented,

'As a not-for-profit community enterprise we see it as a core value to play our part in assisting the local community with health-related initiatives'.

Health Remedy for Community Programs

UFS Pharmacies donated over $16,000 to 38 various community programs this year. This donation adds to contributions made in the previous two years and donations now total over $40,000 in direct support.

The Building a Healthier Community program developed by UFS supports local initiatives with a health and wellbeing focus. It is the wonderful support from UFS Members which allows the program to make such sigificant contributions to the community.

A morning tea was held recently to present the cheques to some of the recepients. Amongst the attendees:

  • Bendigo Animal Welfare & Community Servies - Debbie Edwards
  • Bendigo Autism Asperger Group - Chris Turnbull
  • Bendigo Breast Cancer Support Services Network - Sharon Salter
  • Maiden Gully Primary School - Greg Bowen
  • Righteous Pups Australia - Joanne Baker

Kids Character Carnival

The sun was shining on October 15th as The City of Greater Bendigo hosted the annual Kids Character Carnival. This free family fun day kept all of the children entertained with stage entertainment, farmyard and native animals, creative play activities, face painting, balloons and much much more. UFS Pharmacies were proud to be a major sponsor. The UFS colouring competition attracted many wonderful entrants with 8 excited children presented with a great prize for winning their age group. A special thank you to Sue and Mel for handing out free sunscreen at the UFS Pharmacies tent and presenting the prizes on stage.
